![]() In an effort to make
the American Invitational Youth Football Championships competitive, fair,
balanced, and fun, each age division may have more than one division
included. Every football team accepted into the American Invitational Youth Football Championships is individually evaluated by the Bowl Selection
Committee and placed within weight divisions (or an unlimited weight
division) to assure quality
competition. This does not guarantee that there will be no 30-0 games. It
does assure that all teams within an division are generally the
same age and weight by average. Though one team may be significantly more
talented than another, age and weight are not a factor in who wins and who
does not. We have many teams who will apply but cannot be accepted due
their team's age and weight averages.Specifically as to weights, teams are seeded into divisions based on the weight of their lightest player, heaviest player, and the average weight of all players. This helps assure fair match-ups in divisions. For 2010, we have opened up UNLIMITED WEIGHT DIVISIONS in all divisions. These are unlimited weight linemen (cannot advance the ball, etc.) known as "stripers" or "X players" and must have an appropriate designation on their helmet. Call us at 813.441.4642 for information on unlimited weight divisions. For Tournament purposes, a participants age is his or her age on July 31, 2010. There are the following age divisions (with weight divisions within each age division accordingly):
